AVSI Project featured in AIAA May 2017 Aerospace America

June 1, 2017

The AVSI Wireless Avionics Intra-Communications (WAIC) project was featured in the cover story of the May 2017 issue of Aerospace America.   The story, titled “War on wiring” and published by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), reported on the emergence of wireless communications on-board aircraft. AVSI Director, Dave Redman was interviewed for the article and represented the AFE 76s1 Project Participants’ collective view on the current status and future direction of WAIC.

AVSI continues to lead the technical development of WAIC, supporting laboratory testing and coordinating development of a Standard and Recommended Practice (SARP) through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Complementary efforts to develop a Minimum Operational Performance Specification (MOPS) for WAIC are being jointly coordinated by the EUROCAE WG-96 and RTCA SC-236 committees in cooperation with the AFE 76s1 team.
