This project designed an integrated Systems Engineering and Information Management capability between the participating AVSI member companies. The objective was to establish common standards of communication and engineering systems without jeopardizing the proprietary interests of individual companies.
The system would enable AVSI members to perform systems engineering at the aircraft and sub-system level using compatible and inter-linked processes and computer tools, thus allowing participating companies to communicate as an integrated systems design team rather than as stand-alone entities with awkward lengthy error prone communication processes. The resulting benefit was to reduce cycle times and labor costs for requirements definition and flow-down systems modeling and trade studies, product definition, systems integration test and certification.
SAIC developed common processes, tools and data models used to define and manage requirements in the environment where companies collaborate using networked computers. SAIC also evaluated and recommended an electronic collaboration capability to be used by the participating companies.
